The fam came to visit! Pops, Rosa, and Justin came to the city and I busted out the Polaroid. Nick made the most amazing turkey burgers. Tomorrow is fancy birthday celebration. Life is good
I love Nick. Baked Chicken, Baked Potato with chipotle salsa, spinach salad with grape tomatoes, almond slivers, orange bell peppers and goat cheese. Yuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmm
End of the trip. Sanje and I ate a NY bagel and dragged our luggage through the subway to JFK airport. We had a couple hours to kill, so we continued the other theme of the trip "drinking" by passing the time in the bar.
This day was all about amazing food. Colombian brunch, Peruvian dinner. But I didn't take any pictures of the food because I was too busy enjoying it. So here is the Empire State building. If you would like to help stimulate the NY economy, you can pay $20 to ride the elevator to the top. Since I felt I had already done my part, I respectfully scoffed at the price.
Adventure day. Walked through Central Park for quite a while, contemplated ice skating, went shopping in Soho, found beautiful boots! Also bought a new beanie, because "freezing" was the theme of the trip :)
More Americana. Visited the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and then the Met. Went out that night in Manhattan with Devra, Sanje, and Nick Finn (old pal from Modesto who now works for the Food Network) Fun day.
Caught the China Town bus to New York! My first time in the Big Apple. One thing about being on the east coast in January is that it's FREEZING! Here I'm modeling some of the layering techniques Sanje and I employed so that we didn't freeze to death. Enjoy
Inauguration Day!!! At 12 noon, Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. And I was there!!!! Sanje, AJ, Aaron, and I were near the Washington Monument in the crowd of 2 million. What an amazing, awe inspiring day. (Big day, 2 pictures)
Martin Luther King Jr. Day was declared a National Day of Service. We volunteered to write letters and put care packages together for the Military. What an inspiring day! So many people showed up and 75,000 care packages were sent out to U.S. Soldiers serving overseas. Kinda gives you the warm fuzzies.
Holy Moses, most AMAZING concert ever! Bono, Bruce, Beyonce, Patti Labelle, Stevie Wonder, Sheryl Crow, Garth Brooks, James Taylor, Mary J. Blige, and too many more to note. All for free, for a crowd of a couple hundred thousand. Oh yeah, Garth did "Shout" and the whole crowd became a scene out of Wedding Crashers. Oh, and Obama was there and we saw him too :)
Life is not always glamorous like Fergie claims. Today I spent 9 hours at work, sick, by myself. Check out that nose! I went through at least 1 box of shitty tissues and the result is me looking like I have a coke habit. Bummer
Miguelito, the most handsome Costa Rican boy you'll ever meet. Got to have lunch today with Daphne, her hubby Migue, mom Sandra, and this little cutie here.
